Favored by locals and tourists alike, Boston’s Seaport District is home to a bevy of shops and places to walk to enjoy gorgeous views of the water. If you’re in the area to look at Seaport homes for sale or to peruse the Institute of Contemporary Art, you’ll likely work up an appetite. Fortunately, there are many notable fine dining restaurants to choose from, whether you want to celebrate making a successful offer on a house or just relax and indulge in some of the best service and food in the country. Let’s take a look at some of our favorites.

Chickadee

An award-winning restaurant run by New England dining scene veterans Ted Kilpatrick and Chef John daSilva, Chickadee touts that it's “New England born and Mediterranean inspired.” Chickadee opened in 2018 and quickly gained acclaim by becoming a semifinalist for the James Beard Best New Restaurant award. Their seasonal menu is prepared with fresh, local ingredients and is perfectly paired with one of the craft cocktails. The restaurant maintains a high quality of service while cultivating an inviting and enjoyable ambiance. Delectable appetizers include smoked sea trout dip and chickpea Panisse fries, small plates of slow-roasted porchetta and marinated beets, and main entrees such as royal red shrimp ravioli, squid ink fusilli, and crispy fried chicken. Dinner is served every night but Monday and starts at 5 p.m.

Legal Harborside

Legal Sea Foods has become a reputable brand seen throughout the country, but you haven’t experienced the best of it yet until you visit the location in the Seaport District. If you’re in the area looking at Seaport homes for sale, make a point to stop into Legal Harborside for lunch or dinner any day of the week. However, you should consider dining on a Thursday or Friday so you can sit on the rooftop and enjoy the fresh air and sweeping views of the harbor. Featuring some of the best seafood in the area, fresh menu items often include sesame-crusted yellowfin tuna or lemon caper gray sole. If you own some nearby Seaport real estate, you can also buy fresh fish from the Legal Fish Market to prepare your own seafood dinner within your home.

Strega Italiano

Authentic Italian food prepared from recipes handed down through the generations is what you’ll find when you make a reservation at Strega. Creator Nick Varano began his culinary career working at his family’s Italian restaurant in the North End before opening his own in the area in 2003. His brand has since grown to include several locations though those who own Seaport real estate will claim this location is the best. When dining at Strega Italiano, you’ll be treated to a relaxed evening of sampling some of the finest Italian food in the area, including authentic soups, salads, antipasti, and main dishes like Fettuccine Alla Panna, Veal Osso Buco, and swordfish served with tomatoes, olives, anchovies, capers, garlic, Sicilian olive oil, and basil. To make your evening even more special, choose an Italian-inspired drink like a Strega Winter Spritz, indulge in a signature cocktail, or order off the restaurant’s curated wine list.

Ocean Prime

One of the best places in the area to socialize, indulge in incredible food and drinks, and celebrate pretty much anything, Ocean Prime is located in 100 Pier 4 building and is open during the week for lunch and dinner, with dinner only on the weekends. If you decide to take a break from looking at Seaport homes for sale and stop in for lunch, you can dine on sushi, creamy clam chowder, or a poke bowl. Prefer to make a dinner reservation? Note the restaurant has attire guidelines, and prepare yourself to be impressed by a meal consisting of a prime steak, blackened snapper, or Colorado lamb chops with a side of black truffle mac n’ cheese or smoked gouda tater tots. Pair your dinner with a craft cocktail like the Espresso Martini, or choose a beer or glass of wine from the restaurant’s extensive selection.

Woods Hill Pier 4

Those who have owned Seaport real estate for many years will likely remember this as the former location of the special occasion staple Anthony’s Pier 4. Though that eatery cannot be replaced, Woods Hill is making an excellent effort of creating a new memorable dining experience. Owners Kristin Canty and Chef Charlie Foster focus on using sustainable ingredients to create innovative dishes like crispy lamb ribs, citrus cured Faroe Islands salmon, and grass-fed hanger steak. They also stand out by featuring an admirable selection of mocktails to go with their cocktails, beer, and wine selections. Those under 21 or who prefer not to drink can enjoy a Blueberry Nojito, Fly-Tai, or Verjus Spritz. Woods Hill Pier 4 also serves a fantastic brunch on the weekends with lobster popovers, fried chicken and sourdough waffles, and breakfast beignets.

Oak + Rowan

With the goal of creating or evoking a precious memory for each of their guests, Oak + Rowan is the ideal place for a date night or to celebrate a special occasion. This restaurant is refined while still being approachable and features delicious snacks like fish pate and scallion pancakes, appetizers such as cauliflower soup and halibut crudo, as well as mouthwatering main dishes like Rohan duck and fish stew. You’ll also be taken by their notable wine list, as they’ve received an award of excellence by Wine Spectator.
